Argan
History
Argan is older than anyone can remember.
He is a tree — a great old argan tree with a kind, wrinkled face in his bark — and he has stood on the same hill for hundreds of years. He has seen caravans pass, cities rise, children grow up and bring their own children to sit in his shade.
"I remember," he says slowly, in a voice like rustling leaves. "I remember it all."
Argan tells stories of long ago — of kings and travellers and ordinary brave people. History, he says, is just the memory of a family that is very, very large.
