Fatima always has paint on her hands.
On her cheeks too, and sometimes in her hair. She cannot help it — when she sees a colour she loves, her fingers want to use it right away. Blue like the tiles of a fountain. Green like mint tea leaves. Pink like the sky just before evening.
"A drawing is never wrong," she says. "It is just yours."
Fatima painted the whole courtyard wall once, with flowers no one had ever seen, because she made them up.
