Sami

Sami

French Language

Sami collects words the way other children collect marbles.

He keeps a little notebook in his leather satchel, and whenever he hears a new French word, he writes it down. "Papillon," he whispers. "Such a soft word for a butterfly." He likes how French words seem to dance off the tongue.

His favourite thing is to find a word that sounds like what it means — "chuchoter", to whisper, which already sounds like a secret.

Sami says learning a language is like making a new friend. You start with "bonjour", and slowly the world grows bigger.

Shall we learn one word together?
